Throughout the 90’s, he was General Manager of the American Cabaret Theatre and spent seven years booking the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre. Since 1999, he has produced 11 shows Off and Off-Off-Broadway, as well as a series of readings and workshops. He has also toured overseas traveling with the Ailey Company, the Universal Ballet, Ballet Victor Ullate, Black Moon Theatre Company, and The Rebecca West Society, and was the Director of PR and Marketing for the Southside Venue in Edinburgh Scotland during the 2002 and 2005 Edinburgh International Fringe Festivals. In 2004, he produced and promoted a production of Kafka’s The Metamorphosis, which played to sold out audiences in Prague and Edinburgh and received a 5 star review from The Scotsman. In 2000, he was awarded the first annual scholarship to the Commercial Theatre Institute in New York City, and in 2002, he received a Vilar Fellowship in Arts Administration at the Kennedy Center in Washington DC, where he worked and studied in 2002/3. He subsequently became the Director of PR and Marketing at the Tony Award-winning Williamstown Theatre Festival for its 2003 season. His company, Paul Lucas Productions, is both a theatrical production company and a PR and marketing consulting firm for the performing arts. Currently at work on an original screenplay, Paul was the recent recipient of a Frances Alexander grant for screenwriting.
